The Tithing Challenge

Filed under: Uncategorized — tithe @ 10:45 pm

Malachi 3,
And try Me now in this,” Says the
Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you
such blessing

Has anyone read about the tithe challege? C’mon! What’s the big deal about this tithe challenge thing? I mean really? Isn’t the validity of all of God’s promises always on trial? What if God says prove me, “i am going to reward you in heaven for your good works”. Everyone acts like God is double dog daring us to do something out of character.

Isn’t this another way of God asking us to once again hold him to his word? If God says he’s gonna do something in return for what we do, then it’s up to us to prove that he’s telling the truth. All God is saying is, “believe me when i say that i will do something.” In other words, he’s saying, “if you don’t believe me, then prove me wrong.” God’s been saying this throughout his eternal existence. We act as though the bible is the written account of everything that God has said at all times. As if this is the only time God asks us to try him. Isn’t our act of obedience a form of proving God, and holding him to his word? The word “try” here is more of a form of accountability. It is not to be mistaken as tempting God.

In Deuteronomy it says, “You shall not tempt the Lord your God as you tempted Him in Massah.” Well, in Massah (Exocus 17:7), Israel was murmuring and complaining and it was testing the patience of God. In Malachi, Israel was told to prove God on his promises of tithing. They weren’t given permission to provoke God to act against his character and will.

You have permission to test God in all of his promises. Hold him to his word. He wants you to see that he is truthful and just. As a challenge name some other areas in your life that you have already tested and proved God in?

Recovering

Filed under: Uncategorized — tithe @ 2:45 am

I was lucky and glad for google cache. It kept an archive of all my blogs, that i lost when i converted to a new host. So i was able to input all the old blogs that i lost while converting to a new host. Unfortunately, i lost all the comments though. Well, as i get my feet more on solid ground i’ll start writing more and more posts for this blog. I’ve been so busy with my business. I’ve done so much planning for this website, i’m just disapointed that i don’t have the time to implement them. I work from home and my business is in the growth stage.

I’ve put so much time into the study of tithing, and i’m burdened that i’ve not been able to share many of my thoughts and resources on this topic. My heart has changed much on the subject of tithing. I used to study to search for the truth and debates about this topic, but now my heart has grown more towards the subject of stewardship. I feel for our church today. There is so much that needs to be fixed. Of course it’s not perfect. by the way, i don’t have the perfect answer, nor am i the perfect example either. but i wish sometimes that we could just undo some things that have been done in the church. at least i’d like to find out how we got down some of the paths we are on, so we know how to recover from the wrong path we’ve taken.

Tithe Website Plans

Filed under: Uncategorized — tithe @ 8:37 pm

I just transferred my hosting service to a new company and in the process, i just lost my blogging data from the past. I should have backed it up. Truthfully i really don’t care much for losing it. The reason i had changed my hosting service was because the old company does not have the capabilities to support my near future plans for this site. I have big plans for this site. I have been taking some time planning it and doing some behind the scenes stuff. I just recently moved to the first page in rankings for google for the terms tithe, and tithing. The visitors to this site have practically doubled, on some days tripled. It’s absolutely astounding to me the amount of people who search for and are interested in the subject of tithes. I never realized the amount of people that search for this topic every day. Keep an eye out for this site in the future. There will be lots of useful things coming soon.

For those of you who do not know, maintaining a website, at least a usable one is not easy. It takes lots of work and ambition. I have devouted much time to the study of tithe, offerings, and stewardship, and i hope you all will be blessed in some way through any of the resources available on this website. I really would like any input that you have for this site. Let me know what you expected and how this site has fallen short in your opinion.

Starving the Needy to Feed the Vision

Filed under: Uncategorized — tithe @ 3:08 pm

If i were to say to my kids, “tonight, we’re going to skip dinner so that mommy and daddy can save up for a house”, do you think that i could be reported to child affairs? I guess the same goes with how our churches operate. They neglect the immediate needs of their fellowship so they can fulfill the future goals. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with these visions and goals per se, but why have we neglected the immediate needs of our fellowship? You can’t nutritionalize and keep your family healthy by living on a vision. Visions and goals are good and all but let’s face it, i’m not skipping my dinners to fulfill them.

One of the bad doctrines that stem out of “The pursuit of Goals” is the enforcement of tithing. Many leaders call their church to follow in their footsteps as they are being led by the Spirit to build.  This raises much suspicion because the people must give by a mandated law to a cause that claims to be inspired by the Spirit. But how can the Spirit give a commission on building expensive structures, without the ability to commission potential givers? Can you see how using the law to fund the call of the Spirit obstructs the spirit of discernment? This is how cults are formed and people are deceived. All someone has to do is say, i had a vision from God, and now you should support this vision, no questions asked.

Let’s have some accountability with our visions and our giving. If the Spirit is prompting the pastor to purchase a nicer complex, then i believe the Spirit should be the entity that prompts the support as well. If a pastor knows that our giving is open to discernment, he’ll probably think twice before he neglects the needy to feed the vision.
