It is too hard to give up their bragging rights but Jesus has a sense of human and maybe he is forcing their hands and causing their tithing to fail so he can get back the praise and glory for his work on the cross from this false command to pay God with money for it. Why do you label yourself tither? Sounds kind of prideful to me, does it make you feel better than people that may not have any money because they are unemployed or too poor to tithe a whole ten percent? It is great you tithe but why is your identity wrapped up in the fact that you are a tither? Are you also kind to everyone? Do you also give to the widow, orphan or fatherless? Which God said if you do you are actually giving to him and he will repay you Proverbs 19:17? The idols in certain Churches today may not be false pagan gods as in false deities but have been replaced with greed, coveting, materialism, self-centered behavior, selfishness, pride, despising the less fortunate, self-dependency (not dependency on God), lack of prayer & apathy or lack concern for the lost and the needy. If this recession keeps up we may soon hear of thousands of people calling on Jesus so they will not end up homeless and living under a bridge somewhere. To all you Prosperity money obsessed people and faith to have money, expensive cars and diamond rings like some money fanatics on various Christian TV and Radio these days that have become rich off of the Gospel have they forgotten what Jesus said in Revelation 3:17?
