I don't see anything wrong with making covenants with God. I don't see anything wrong with a pastor asking its members to make one either. God talks a great deal in the old testament about personal vows that were made to God or others. So as you can see vows were not something that was only under the law and stayed there. We can make the same types of vows today in the new testament era. I think that vows should be a part of our daily and long term goals. If God gives us dreams, visions, or ambitions i think that it would be quite appropriate to vow to offer God something back. Well, that's my thoughts. Hopefully i understood your question and explained myself as clear as needed be.

What do you think about a church pastor and who ask its members to make a covenant with God over the next three years as to how much they can give. For example I need to lok at my current giving then look to make a covenant with God to give an additional amount above and beyond tithes in the form of a covenant. In short, the bank needs to know the resources will be behind the church loan for rebuilding so need sort of like promisary notes.
